The first passenger drone was introduced at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2016 by Guangzhou-based Chinese company Ehang Inc and is called the Ehang 184. The company has raised more than $50 million in capital funding.
Another company trying to support growing modern cities and resolve their increasing mobility problems is Volocopter from Germany. Volocopter attracted $30 million in funding from Daimler, the parent company of Mercedes-Benz.
Ehang and Volocoper are elected for tests from Dubai's Road and Transport Authority for their ambitious passenger city transportation program. Dubai has a target for autonomous transport to account for a quarter of total trips by 2030.
